Fri. Feb 15, 2019: Meditation on Wealth & Abundance

Today’s themes: money, prosperity, healing, abundance.
Good morning and happy Friday. I hope you had a great, productive week and are preparing for a restful weekend. On Monday, I began writing daily meditations and posting them on Medium. Each day has a designated theme that I focus on, and use the tarot spread to call on the Universe to help us be specific. For instance, yesterday’s themes were ancestors, healing, and spirit guides, as was Monday, but the two interpretations differ. Today, we’re meditating on money, prosperity, and abundance. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have or are trying to get, we have to dedicate some time to focusing on what we already have. Here is today’s spread featuring some lovely roses:

I invite you all to take the biggest breath you've taken all week. Breathe in, slowly, and feel your ribs and belly expand. Then breathe out slowly, letting the warmth exude from your soul. No matter when you are reading this, your body will thank you.

Think about your wealth, as in all the things that you have in your life that increase the quality. Note that these things can, but don't have to be, material items; wealth can also be the things the people in your support group contribute to you: meaningful advice, acceptance, carpools to work, doing laundry for you. If you lack a support system or your support system doesn't contribute much, that's okay. Although we pulled the Judgment card today, we will not be judgmental-- not towards ourselves, not towards others. Simply evaluate: how are things in my life right now? Are they bad? Are they as bad as I think/thought? What's good about it? Try to focus on the good things.

Instead, the judgment card today is reminding us to remain dedicated to our moral convictions. It is better to be a good person and have less wealth, than it is to accumulate wealth through morally corrupt means. Celebrate the cleanliness and purity of your wealth, the love you have for your pets, your hobbies, your loved ones.

I had gotten a "free delivery for x number of days" promo from a food delivering app, which is awesome, right? Then, on the day it expired, I saw that I got an extra day from referring one of my good friends. I was excited about this and upon sharing this news with my lover, they said "That's lame, another week would've been nice."

This is a detrimental mindset! I reminded them "Greed is the opposite of gratitude." Instead of being dissatisfied that I didn’t get more extra time, I was satisfied I got any extra time at all. Small shifts in the way we see a situation, redirecting our energy to focus more on the good things than the unfortunate, lead to bigger shifts in our perspective on life. As we transform our lives, we must also transform the way we think about our lives. This doesn’t mean settle for dust, simply be appreciative of the little things the Universe grants you.

Stop neglecting yourself. Take care of your body, whatever that means for you, because it is sweet and holds precious cargo: you. Don't feel pressed to deny yourself carnal pleasures: eat your favorite foods, maybe purchase some things that make you feel pretty. Budget so that you can afford to maybe "splurge" on yourself more often, or at least do something very intimate with your own body soon. You deserve it! The Devil encourages us to think about what our bodies want (sex, food, sleep), these seemingly shallow, physical desires that ascetic religions have aversions to. But it is natural for our bodies to want these things (in healthy doses), so why deny it? We are constantly in our heads that we forget to simultaneously exist in our bodies. Your body is a resource of wealth as well-- it is literally keeping you alive. It is doing what no other could possibly do for you, not even you. Be grateful for this. Demonstrate this gratitude with acts of love.

The knight of Swords indicates this may require some patience and practice. Allow yourself the time. Allow yourself all you need. You will grow if you remain consistent and trust the process. Give yourself time to adjust to thinking differently, and you'll notice progress more quickly than you might expect.
